2 Cooling Fans Running At Same Time?

I am overheating right now on my 5.7 TPI Iroc and was looking at band aiding the problem for now by placing a jumper on the two relays for the fans so they will both run when the ignition is on.

Would there be a problem doing this? I didn't know if the alternator was able to handle this on a full time basis.

One fan is not keeping it cool enough.

What the hell is going on? Was this common on all 3rd gens? Right now i am doing the same exact thing. I haven't got a chance to hook my second fan on the passenger side, but the one on the drivers side is hot wired to an existing wire connected to the fan system in the car. I'm also afraid to hook up he second one cuz the alternaor might not be able to handle it. So whenever i turn my fan on a low speed, my cooling fans are running fullblast and it works! The only problem when i turn the fan on high speed, my cooling fan runs at the lowest speed, so it kinda backwards. Hope this helps.

You have a nice car! It is the same as mine! Color and all. Mine doesn't have the T's though. I have an '87 Iroc 5.7 TPI auto tranny, no power accessories at all! I thought all Irocs had power options? It's like mine is a plain Jane with no buttons or whistles.

I know it is the real deal, done checked that out.

Fans......I didn't know there were two speeds on the fans. I have one fan running so it must be running slow speed. I haven't had the nerve to run the second one full time.

That isn't over heating, that is the normal operating temperature for these engines. The fans are programmed to turn on at 224-226 degrees. Also, I doubt your gauge is telling you the actual temperature, they aren't that accurate.
