93 SSEi Traction Control

The traction control light on the dash is on and the light on the traction control button will not illuminate. The brakes work fine. How can you tell if a whell sensor is bad? Can a wheel sensor cause the traction control light to come on? Where is the fuse for the ABS/traction control? I am hoping someone can tell me if I am headed in the right direction. I need help bad because my wife is nagging and pecking at me :) Thanx

Yes, check the fuses first. The following fuses are associated with the ABS/TC system in one way or another:

Fuse 6, 13 and 19 in I/P fuse box
Fuse 1 and 2 in LH underhood fuse box

If they all check good then you'll need to take the car to the dealer or other mechanic that has the ability to read the codes. I have a mechanic locally that specializes in GM vehicles. I went to him rather than the dealer and he read the ABS cdes for me free of charge. See if you can find a similar mechanic. Let him/her know that you just want the codes read so you can decide if repairing is necessary. We can let you know what the codes mean.

When I hade my codes read, the mechanic's scantool did not recognize the controller indicating that it was faulty. I'm going to remove the bulb again and live with it. The brakes will work fine without ABS or TC

I have a 93 SSEi with the same problem. I checked front brakes which were done last year, they are fine. Rear brakes were close enough to needing replacement so that was done. No leaks anywhere. I checked the fuses as mentioned in a previous post, those are all fine. The last thing I can think is the ABS sensor. Nothing shows up on the computer as a problem either. Anyone know a way to test a sensor, or just replace each one? This is annoying more than anything!
