If your Y-Pipe is bad, you might have too buy a whole new catalyist which can be around $2,000 dollars. I have a Taurus SE with a DOHC engine, the same thing happened too me. The part of the Y-Pipe broke lose from all the torque, so I welded it back on. It seems too be holding and I haven't had a problem since.

Vulcan are 12 valve engines.
Duratec are DOHC 24 valve engines.

*You can find your engine type on the Driver's Side door pilliar.

Mines Would Be A Vulcan And I Was Wondering Could I Just Weld The Hole On My Catalyist Converter And Call It A Day If Nothing Else Is Wrong. I Already Welded Two Holes On My Y-pipe But I'm Still Getting Sound From The Converter It Self. I Was Told By Midias That I Had A Hole In The Converter And I Would Need To Replace The Whole Y-pipe, So I Bought Some Muffler Compound To Cover The Hole Hopefullly That Will Do The Trick For Me.
