On an 86 Prelude, it has an external voltage regulator, any idea's on what could cause it to get damaged? It was replace 4 months ago along with the battery and the alternator, it went out again. I dont have anything special on it that wasn't there factory.

I had an 86 lude. I only replaced the alt. once. I had no other problems.
If its over charging , replace the regulater, If its under charging replace the alt. Get your battery checked at a local shop.
Good Luck

6 months ago the battery, then the alternator, then the regulator was replaced during troubleshooting, a dumd a$$ shop i brought it to didn't pay attention that the alternator they bought didn't have the diode plate on it and so we kept running in circles, it was replaced in october/november and 2 weeks ago my headlights/console light started dimming as i drove, i tested the regulator and based on the specs it is bad again. I am about to junk out the damned thing cause i am tired of dealing with it.
