just cause in the last thread so many people didnt believe than the Ld9 engine in cavalier Z24's could go anywhere, id like to show you a video of a 13.1 cavalier. This cavalier was done entirely on stock internals, clutch, trans, suspension, street tires. Also this was done with 10 PSI from a turbo.

good vid, that cavi really shot off like a bat out of hell but please don't try to turn this into an 'I told you so' thread. It will just make things worse with comments like "its a dead engine alright" because then it upsets whoever said that etc etc and it goes downhill from there.
Regardless of all that, I was wondering if the guy with the turbo cavi has a site by any chance to keep up with the condition of the car. I'm interested to see how its running and want to know if he's adding anymore to it. I guess since you know everything is stock besides the turbo kit there has to be a site somewhere that at least has some specs.

lol i think people are running out of excuses to say that the cavalier LD9 engine has no potential.
... every engine has potential, some more then others. The LD9 is not god, its not a racecar engine, granted the bottem end and mb the heads are in a race car but i'm sure it has forged internals and a whole bunch of other good stuff. I get tired of people trying to gain respect for thier fixed up econo cars with a big HEY LOOK AT ME i'M FAST. It gets old fast. been there done that, good job your z24 can be made fast with ALOT of work. i'm glad you have pride in your car, thank god your not riceing in out and calling it done.

You boost it you break it, you wanna keep it, keep mild boost, you wanna boost higher start strengthening(is that a word?) the motor. When a boosted cavy thinks he is tough shit and starts callen out LS1's ima let him know how i feel. MB give him a lil insight that slappen on a supercharger and a few supporting mods does not in anyway mean your gunna beat any ls1 on the street. 80% of LS1s out there you see have somethen under the hood and will eat you for lunch. I'm not trying to make this a my engine is better then your engine thread. or a I see you riseing up so lemme squish your thread. I just don't like when people fix up there cars and decide they can beat anyone cause they surprise some rice.

Also the engine isnt that high of compression, 9.5:1 is the stock. And to think 10 PSI gave the car about a 100HP gain is really impressive. How many engines respond with 10HP per PSI? He dynoed a 238WHP at 10 PSI.

lol we are not saying the engine is god .. we are just saying its pretty good for a 4cyl tunner car, its one thats often over looked alot of the time but really shouldnt be as it can run sold times with few mods, that guy is far from having ALOT of mods like you say its just a standard turbo kit with a supporting exhaust thats it basicly, i really dont see your point in compairing a V8 to a 4banger anyways not very logical as of course a modern V8 will be faster.. it should be its 2x the size

Slicks would bump him into the 12's. Rather impressive.
How much more can that motor take , boost wise? I would think that is pushing it for the stock motor. Little more work though, and watch out.

no i dont think he did any major weight reduction, if he did he didnt mention it. I would imagine he removed the spare tire and did simple things like that.
The engine is about the max you want to go on stock internals as far as boost. But he can do alot more to the engine before it needs to be rebuilt with stronger internals.

That I will doubt. With a very good tune, I am sure that car is pretty reliable.
The problem is that he is one car. Jayson and Orange Z are a couple of the S/C'd guys. Most the the J-Body crowd doesn't do anything for performance. Must be too much work for most of them or something.

From my experiences cavaliers aren't reliable stock..throw some F/I on them and run them down the 1/4 mile to some low 13 second passes...and I can't see it lasting too long.

the 2.4 are great engine as far as things not breaking on them its mostly everything else on the cavalier that will go first lol but for the most part they hold up really good, the 2.2 sohv engines are another story and they are the reasoning we get all the bad rap, besides if FI wasnt reliable dampachi then gm wouldnt have ever made a supercharger kit for the car...

first this is the cars stock engine any honda running this n/a on the street probley doesnt have its stock engine no more, secondly they probley put 5x the money into the engine do you know how much it cost to build a fast n/a car well its not cheap thats for sure and they are probably running 110 octain fuel on top of that lol but i do have to admit 12 and 13 second n/a cars are bad ass any brand
we are just trying to keep the view of things in the same class so if we could just compare simular setups in other cars that are 4cyl thats fine if ya wanna do that
compare the car for what its worth its a reliable 4 cyl N/A engine not a large V8
just thought i throw in that you can make these engines fast for all out N/A as well and most the stuff you can get straight from gm as the 2.3 and 2.4 parts are interswapable

5k in mods on a honda to run 13s? mb if you include the new motor. tell me how much you spent to run 13s? Honestly i don't care about a cavalier that can run mid 14s its still a cavalier. I wont have to look out for em cause i am still gunna run faster. If anything you lost repect for your car. Alot of the J-bodies owners are very modest and don't care if someone knows they are fast or not. Bragging on the internet to try to get respect is gunna have the opposite affect.
Damn i was looking for this vid i saw a while back, it was this french vid of these guys trying to get a civic to die on them. First they tried just hitten the E-brake and putting a rock on the gas so see if bouncing off the revlimiter and doen a burnout would kill it but they gave up after a while. The tried putten bananas in the exhaust ports but the civ just shot them out on start up. Then they eventually drained the oil and replaced it with water and slammed on the gas. all the water evaporated out and it died after a good 10 mins of that. They put more water into the motor and it started right back up. They did bounced it off the rev limiter for another 10 mins tell it eventually died. I figured that would be a good movie to post considering we are talken about engine abuse.
But while i was searchen for that vid i found a have dec car vid site

you prolly do, its the one where it starts out and there are 4 or 5 turbo m3s and they are doen burnouts in a parking lot. I think all of em were asain guys in their early to mid 20s. (daddy bough it mb?) Pretty sweet m3s looks fast as f@ck.
