My 1993 2.2L won't start. I know it's getting fuel, spark, and the timing is not off. I thought the FPR was bad, but I've no way to test it. Is there some kind of electrical connection or computer control that would suddenly malfunction?

Low battery would be the first thing I'd check. After that make sure all other grounds are good. Clean all your battery terminals, metal connections & grounds you can find. After that it's onto the starter & starter solenoid.

What exactly is the car doing?

Well there aren't a lot of details here, but it sounds like what happened to mine.

So we towed it to a shop and after a long time they said that they needed to get a Body Control Modulator. There's about $300 bucks. Plus labor. Ugh. But they had to put it on a machine to read the error codes that the car throws, and they didn't have the machine. So we towed it down to the local Ford dealership (nearest Chevy is 3 hours away) where they have a machine. It couldn't throw codes because the one fuse that controls the sending action was missing. It didn't need the Body Control Modulator after all but they put in the fuse and it started up. Go figure. It wasn't even a starter-control fuse. Turns out it was a loose firing wire under the engine casing, I think.

About 45 days later, it suddenly wouldn't start again but had no reaction at all. Bad battery connection and a plug that wiggled out of place.

We've been incredibly luky. Hope you are too!
