Hi
Does any one know if a muffler 20" Long x 5" Wide X 5" High with a 2.5" Inlet pipe & 4.0" Outlet pipes would fit the stock exaust pipe and the bumper frame on an MKIII golf?
Thanks

it may fit under the car & with the bumper, but the stock pipe coming from the cat is 2 inches or less. you need custom pipes, now.

so if I weld one of those small converter pipes to the end of the pipe coming from the cat and weld that to the muffler, that should take care of it right!?

Just get a techtonics exhaust, there like 300 and come catback.

I don't really want to spend that much money on it and plus the exhaust system is just a few months old and I don't want to replace it. All I want to change is the muffler. This is the one I have in mind: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7969250950 it looks like a really good deal! What do you think?

You can do that but it will be a sloppy job, you would be better, going to a exhaust shop have have then install your custom piping, it should be cheap because your only going from the cat back, I have the same car & the same setup.
