Wierd smell from air conditioner

When I turn my car on, a wierd smell comes from the air conditioner. It smells like very stale air, yet it goes away after a few minutes, I was just wondering if anybody had the same problem or how I fix it.

You can spray some of your favorite air freshner into the cabin filter while the a/c is on and the car running. It should help a bit.

replace your cabin filter. just did mine for the same reason.

Replace the cabin air filters AND spray some lysol into the cabin air intakes seems to work for me.

Where is the cabin filter located. I have the same smell

open your hood, its right below where the vents on your hood lay. There are 3 tabs that you turn and they should pop up. You pull the filter towards you to remove it.

Replaced the carbon filter yesterday. When circulating are through the "A" option the are is nice and clean. However when binging in outside are or just plain recirculation the smell is still there. It must be coming from the A/C core . The condenser drains good don't suspect a problem there.
