I swear to God it was the most beautiful fu***** thing i ever seen. I almost crashed just looking at the damn thing. The guy driving was looking at me like i was on crack. I let go of the steering wheel just so i could give the guy around of appluase. That was the 1st time i seen one in person. It was crisp, fatass tires washed and waxed. Damn i get a stiffy just think about that shit. GM better bring that camaro back, thye just have to.

I feel bad for you that it was only your first time seeing one, lol.

GM will hopefully bring back the Camaro (its lookin better) but it will never come back to a body style near the 69's...

Unless they try to steal Ford's idea and make the new Camaro look retro like Ford did with the Thunderbird....oh and we all know how well that worked out for them.

Im not too picky as to what they make it look like, as long as they dont make it into a family car like the GTO...

Yeah, suck to be you if thats the first you've seen. My father has a 1969 Camaro SS/RS Pace Car in the garage, so whenever I need to get off, I just go into the garage ;)

I've been trying to get pictures of it, but I really dont want my ass shot full of holes D:

And the Mustang...

And what's everyones deal with the GTO? It's not flashy and its an ordinary-looking car with a big powerful engine.... that differs from the original how??

My dad used to have a 69 SS... it got repo'd but since I got my car he's been more and more reminiscing about it, and now when I crashed he said "I used to rebuild engines and all that all the time and if was fun, why not get back into it"... I keep trying to push him into midlife crisis so he buys one again :icon16:

GTO's are built off of a 3 year old Australian car/platform and just threw a gto tag on it. Also with bad handling. I am shamed of what cheap ass american thought of that bs idea.

Sounds like me when I saw this NICE SS, I couldnt stop looking at it and I kept going quick to catch up to it, and since he kept hearing my car roaring, he was revving back at me, so I was thinking "Man..I got a weak ass little V6 and here a 69 SS is revving at me, awesome" Lol

we had one 5 months ago almost jump off the damn dyno. our dyno jet can handle a 1300 hp car i think thats the rating it has, well this car hit 1100 and then he sprayed for an extra 100, it jumped up and the safty gear grabed it and it looked like it went up and got slamed back down, it was the damndest thing i ever seen....and considering we had a viper that hit 1200 and it didnt do anything like that, the torq on that chevy must have been nuts!

cooltc2004
04-20-2005, 07:23 PM
The Torque on Big Block Chevys can be compared to absolutly nothing on this planet. These new motors produce HP at lower RPMs, like 4500 - 5500, where as the older engines produced HP at higher RPMS, like 7000.

Thats why, for example, the 396 was rated at 375, it was rated at lower rpms. In truth, it has about 500 hp, stock from the factory.

Story: My dad purchased a 1973 Nova new in 73, and he dropped in a L88 BBC. After spending almost a year calculating and designing, he had an engine that was rated at over 800 hp on just the engine. It was over 1200hp with N2O. Anyways, the cam he has in this thing (yes has, he still has the engine in the garage) wouldn't produce ANYTHING until 3500 RPMS. He said that the first time he took her to the strip and raced her, right off the line she was pretty slow. Once she hit 3500 RPMS he took off, and he would catch the other drive almost everytime. Thats when he put a 4 speed in it, and ran 10.42's.

William

Yeah its a convertible, white with orange stripes, 396/375hp aluminium head motor. 1 of 7 made.

Its an automatic with 3.07 gears in the back (it had to hit 200 mph to pace the 500)

6k origional miles.

Xeno, you've got to understand the roots of the old school american muscle cars like the GTO and Chevelle, etc.. they were not made for handling... those cars were straight drag racing cars and definately couldnt turn on a dime like a honda civic can.. you must first realize this.. recall, you are in the land of domestics.. where handling is not at the top of the priority list.. *you will never see a GTO in an AutoX race*

eh...ill take my 68 over a 69...theres too many 69's runnin around here.

Rally Sport
04-21-2005, 03:51 AM
Yeah for some odd reason, people tend to usually take 68s over 67s and 69s, mostly because people dont have alot of them, I dont know. BUT one of my dream cars is a 67 Z/28 because I know there wasnt many made, somewhere under a 1000 cars.

The bad handling is a personal observation. Never said that older muscle cars were made for handling anyways.

Just saying what I know about the 'new' GTO's. They suck. Yer getting off topic. And I'd bet dollars to donuts you'll see a GTO in an AutoX race...Eventually. They already use GTO's for drifting.

It still had all the old original suspension and it was good enough (well the driver was anyway ~rolls eyes~, it was my first time out) to beat out a LT1 Z28 and a 94 Trans am and a couple BMW 5 series...I had alot of fun and it might be getting alot better soon!

I swear if i attempted autoX my car would fall apart. My suspension and everthing under there is rusty rusty. Had to changed both stabilizing links on the passenger side cuz when i had changed the brakes, jack the car up they just pop off like champagne bottle tops.

Damn dude, that sucks, well like we were talking about in another thread, thats why you paid 2K for your car. I think my car would be able to hold through though, i've already done alot of shit on gravel, and I dont think its much different.

You are absolutely right. The car looked lovely on the outside but the inside, suspension, braking system are all crap. I really should of paid attention to the ad, he did say that in needed TLC, and she is getting it. I'm replacing everything surely but slowly.

The cars that topped my class were 3rd gens...They were both 92 B4C cars (have the 1LE package but also have a/c). They had bad ass drivers. I beat a couple third gens but they were in different classes. Autox is fun and you learn really fast it's not about sliding around cones, it's taking the fastest line.

where do u get to do all that autox stuff?

Rally Sport
04-21-2005, 08:58 PM
Very easy, you can do it yourself!
First goto an abondoned parking lot of say a Wal*Mart, then get a nice huge banner saying AutoX, get a person to stand in the front and ask for 10 bucks admission, put some cones in the parking lot and then there you go, AUTOX!
