1989 Suzuki Swift GTi stalled and won't start

My 1989 Suzuki Swift GTi stalled in the middle of the highway and now it won't start. It has a full tank but seems like no fuel is getting to the engine. The timing belt is still intact. Before this happened, I would be driving along and it would all of a sudden loose power. The accelerator didn't rev the engine (so I don't think it's the tranny) it would just be putting along until all of a sudden it would kick in. My thinking is it's either an ignition problem or fuel problem. Since it stalled on a highway I eliminated the starter. I could get a better idea if I had a manual, but I can't find any. Help!

having same prob,i found a manual.e-mail me..i got it down to one of two things "computer"and/or ignition.Check wiring to altenator, mine were burnt badly, shortly after prob started.88 and 89,s were known to have severe electrical prob,s bypass what you can.suzuki resloved most electrical probs by 90.keep in touch I'm working on brob.let you know what i'm doing and how it goes..Pieace of advice,i'm a mech and most mech,s out there have no experience on fixing these things..don't waste your time or money.Chilton's has manuels in stock,no longer makes them...suzuki has them but very costly...jhbgis1989swift

first I'd check if there's gas going to the engine,if there isn't any,I'd check if there's voltage going to the pump.
If there's current going to the pump but no pumping going on,it's probably the pump :icon16:

If there's gas coming out from the line in the front the pump is ok,next thing to check is spark, because with spark, air and gas the engine should run.

If those 3 things are there, the problem is of electrical nature and is harder to diagnose on the internet
