.. recently the weather where I live, has been getting pretty warm. Ive noticed on my gauge that it has been on the point of getting over heated ( which is 220 in my car ), I have enough antifreeze fluid in my car and it still is getting too hot. Could there be any problem with my car, is there anything i could put in my car to let it cool down, or even to slow down my car getting heated so quickly??? please help , thanks

Not sure which year Bird you drive, but 220 isn't overheating on most models.

Yea is within acceptable range usually. However, if it is overheating, and the fluid is topped off, check the fans. If they arent coming on, it would cause it to overheat in town driving and after driving it for a while.

Yeah, I just got used to the smells my Firebird emits :) Really, 220 is acceptable from what I've seen, and yep, 240ish it getting hot, but GM likes to run the car way up near that temp before it decides to throw the cooling system into high gear. You can get lower thermostat if you want - but that'll lead to reduced gas mileage, increased engine wear, and a little more carbon buildup to name a few problems.

Whan i got my car, i had to drive it like 20 miles home, and the car had a manual switch to turn on the fan. the moron put a little switch on the new fan. I had no idea till i got home and the engine was burnin up. That's what you get with broken guages
