the integra started acting up the other day... at high rpms, it would feel like it was choking and it would make strang noises. but i had no idea what it was. then today i was getting on it, trying to figure out what the feeling and noises were, and the oil light started blinking. I let it cool down for a minute and checked the oil, i didn't see much on the dipstick, but i really hadn't let it cool down all that much. so tommorow i have to check the oil in the am and i am preparing for the worst. if i do have no oil, does anyone have an idea what the problem could be? it drives great in low rpms, but once i hit around 6000 it starts to choke, and i've never had this problem in my car before i installed the supercharger.

If there was no oil in you would be having worse problems by now. I wouldn't drive it anymore though, not at all.
I honestly haven't a clue because i dont work with these engines at all, just dont drive it anymore.

i know my engine will seize up with no oil, but thing runs like a beauty with no sounds, or smells, until i get on it. im wondering where the oil went though. i didnt see any patches anywhere near where i park my car. also when we installed the supercharger we didnt go anywhere near any oil flow besides the filter, which i also checked today because i had no idea what to do. this sucks, where in the world would all my oil go?

Is it possible that the engine at high rpms there is something wrong and it's over heating and is actually burning up the oil?? (not burning as in actually on fire but...what's the word...can't remember)
But yeah, I would get it checked as quickly as possible.

Recently with my current installs on the Civic, my oil has been burning away just as LiRrr described. I just recently had an oil change as well. About 1000 miles ago. And this past weekend, my oil light came on, and I checked the dipstick, and sure enough it was really low. Usually when I get on it at higher RPM's that's when I tend to smell the oil burning as well. I usually have the heater on in my car, so that's when I can really smell it. I don't really get on it too much during the day, but in the evenings when it is cooler out. That's when I notice it happening. If I do it during the day, I also notice that my temp rises incredibly fast.
I talked to the mechanic who installed my parts to find out what could be the main cause of the problem, and generally with Hondas/Acuras, they tend to burn oil with high performance parts installed. They tend to run hotter than usual as well. Thus that explained why things were happening with the Civic. You probably haven't had the SC on there too long, correct? There is a break in period as well, which I'm sure you are aware of. And possibly, your engine hasn't adjusted to the new mod. But more than likely, due to the high performance mod you installed, your engine is running hotter, and you are just burning off oil more rapidly.
I wouldn't go off the information I gave you though. I would check with a mechanic who specializes with Tegs. Mostly because this is a Honda specialist I went to, who also happens to be a good family friend as well. Even so, he deals mostly with Civics. And that's what kind of information he gave me about my Civic, not an Integra. They pretty much are generally the same, but I would hope that this kind of information could help you somewhat atleast. what kind of oil are you using? Dino oil or a full synthetic? If i were you i would try switching to a full synthetic as long as you dont have say more than 30,000 miles on the car. If you do, then you need to slowly switch to a synthetic. Like start 50/50, then slowly lean it down.

your engine might just use oil too... thats somewhat normal, but for the engine bogging down when you get on it... check the egr, and the spark plugs. mayyyyybee the ignition coil but i doubt that, if that was it it would probably run like a pile of poop. my bros 4cyl avenger was doin that and he changed the plugs and cleaned the egr and it worked good after that. but that is a diff engine. as far as the oil he was losing oil to because those engines are notorious for blown head gaskets... and that happened.

we'll find out tommorow, cause im taking it into my mechanics... ive narrows it down to either burnt piston rings, or something to do with the valves, my coolant was nice and clean, and im only blowing blue smoke at high rpms. thanks for all the responses guys, i feel like my balls have been ripped off not bein able to drive my car

blue smoke = burned oil

heck yeah dude, i burnt almost 4 quarts of synthetic out of nowhere!

wow, that is alot. Higher mileage honda/acuras have a tendency to burn oil via worn piston rings or valve stem seals. If you are only getting blue smoke under load, I would lean towards the piston rings. If you are losing that much oil, I'd get under the car and see if you are dripping any, because that is alot. And my advice, get in the habit of checking it alot more frequently. I check my tire pressure and oil religiously. It's just a good habit to get into.
The loss of oil may or may not be the cause of your issues though. How does it act when you get up there? If it is like an off and on hesitation, you may be getting spark blowout...check your plugs, and possibly gap them a bit closer, or run a step colder.

Yeah, sounds like rings since its under acceleration.
CivRacer95, man you may have a bad head gasket or intake gasket by the way you described your problem. You ever get any white smoke or water in the oil? And do you ever have to add water (coolant)?

Im going to be checking all of that today, but i dont think its my plugs, because when i installed the sc i installed a brand new set of colder plugs, and this problem only started happening recently. I'll tell you exactly what it's like when i get up there, its like vtec is turning on and off, and sometimes i can feel a stinging vibration in my gas pedal. and that is all between 6-8k rpms. Looks like i'll be buying a daily driver and building this thing right. Cause once i'm in the engine im not going to stop until i have can take em in the twisties, and the straights....

Vibration in the gas pedal sounds like you got a balancing problem as well, or something in the valvetrain has developped a problem.
May have a cam with a lobe gone or something. That would explain your loss of power but I dont know about oil consumption though.

alright, i took it to the shop today and compression was perfect so it's not my piston rings, also we topped off the oil, and it ran like new.... i was down 1.5 quarts. we concluded that it was my valve seals, and im actually not as much as i thought, because i burned 1.5 quarts in the month that i just put my sc on, and i have been running the shit out of my car since then. so, we're going to redo my valve seals and that should take care of the problem completely. i feel alot better about this whole thing knowing my compression after 137k miles is still perfect.

Thats a honda for yah. Those motors run like new tell around 200,000 miles where you start to see a tiny bit of engine wear.

hey chex, i had a chance to run an srt-4 yesterday too, but i had to wave him off because i thought one of my rings was fried... probly be another 3 months before i see one of those next to me again...

Nope not at all. I already explained what the problem was. Never had any of those problems occur either. Just typical with high mileage motors as mine as well. I already checked everything. And just recently had my realigned my valves. That's when everything was checked. But thanks for looking out for me . Like I said, it was my mechanic who looked it over with me. I was there. L8...
