Black Rims?

Hey, I'm looking at rims and I just seen a scion XA commercial and they had these cool rims.

They were black but they had a chome rim around the outside of the rim. It looks prety cool.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the name of these rims were? Is there a certian name? Or is there a certian name for the chrome strip?

There are alot of black rims with a polished lip. My rims are BBS style with a 1 inch polished lip. But i am looking at some 19" ADR fuels in bronze.

Do you have a picture of your rims?

I have pics of them, but none that show the variance betweent the alloy powder coating and the machined lip.

But here is an example of a polished lip. Its a high sheem machine finish on the outter most part of the rim.

The 2nd number in the rim size is the width right?

18x7.5

If so, what is the widest width you can go before rubbing?

jayson716

18X7.5... i get a slight rub you dont hear it at all but when i have my wheel off you can see marks lol... but very little and only when u turn the wheel.

Yep, i got them too. I think i got them when i was slammed with my old springs on my car though. Currently i am sitting a little higher.

were running rims .5" wider and are lowered.

So if I got lowering springs and struts there won't be a lot of rub because I don't want my tire to rub off considering tires some times are more expensive then the rim.

Oh by the way, how big of tires would I need if I got 18's

It all depends on how low you want to go, and the offset of the rim. I have a subtle drop. 1.4" all the way around. My offset is 40mm on my rims. I am going to assume your stock tire size was 195/65R15.. so..

for 17" rims... 225/45-17
for 18" rims... 225/40-18
for 19" rims... 225/35-19

This I know. I was noting that the .5" makes a difference. Oh and mine will be lowered one day. After I pay my car off anyways.

Where's the fun in that? Mod while you pay off the car. Shit i still owe somthing like... 4,200 bucks on my car.. LOL... Thats a little less than what i have done in mods.. So in theory, i could have had my car paid off for by now.. But Nahh....

The way i see it is why mod something you don't own. I'm only keeping my second job through July so I figured I may as well use the extra money to pay the car off...that way I can do all the mods I want with the income from one job because I'll have one less payment. I was modding the car and paying on it, but was not able to get much (at the time I only had one job). I managed to pay for my rims ($960) with one pay check since I got my second job. I thought about turboing it while I had the second job, but I think paying it off would be the best thing to do.

So if i lowered 1.7" and then put 18's on it, would there be a lot of rubbing? would it even be possible?

Would it look good?

It all depends on the offset of the wheel bro... there is a sweet spot. Lower the offset the further away from the hub it puts the wheel, if your car is low, you may have to roll the fender, if your too high offset, it can rub on your spring perch or the inner tire well.

Hmmm? Well, I'll figure it out when I get them.

there ya go! If you plan on lowering your car, aim for 40-42mm offset.

So if I buy the rims, is there anything special I need to make the offset that? or do I have to buy rims that have that offset?

Hey is there a website that has good deals on rims and anyone reccomends?

Can you as the dealer to custom make the offset?
