headliners?

Has anyone replaced/removed/installed the headliner on the 1st gen blazers?
From what I've seen there seems to be about 5 panels that need to be removed...
Is it contact cement they use to hold it up?
Will it rip off with the carpet?
any input would be great!

Poke a TINY hole in placed positions and spray adhesive and reglue the liner up.

I tried what Lt said for my 91 did not work. A couple of my buddys did them for there old beaters and gave me some general knowledge. You would have to remove the panels in the back sides front sides and the sunvisors. The hold down strap things are pretty hard to get at with a socket. I am going to be doing mine this summer if i find the fabric i want. For now i broke out the old staple gun pushed all the fabric to front no air pockets hid them staples behind the sunvisors since i dont use them anyway. Thought i give my 2 cents.

i tryed the hole thing with my old 1500 (i say old beause i dont drive it no more) but it didnt work, wound up being the best way to do it was to take the headliner off, then peel it back to the spot and reglue, when i did the hole thing, it was a big enough area, it looked like a stain... use your perverted imagaination..., to much glue in one spot, and the hard glue spot looked 100 times worse then the sagging

I was considering fixing the headliner or putting a custom one up with a nice design.
but once I have the panels off... is there anything else i should worry about or can i just rip the bastard right off.

3M makes a "General Trim Adhesive" and on the can it says -"Do not use this product to bond headliner fabric that has pulled away from it's foam backing. This product is designed to bond foamed backed headliner to a backer board."- I have seen a link for replacement headliner fabric with the foam backing somewhere in this forum. If I can find it I'll post it again. If you get the fabric and the spray glue maybe you can use the old backer board. Also as a temporary fix I have seen narrow strips of thin plywood or paneling used as ribs to hold the fabric up to keep it from rubbing on your head.(very annoying) Depending on the molding on the sides sometimes you can cut them exactly to length and just wedge them in without any fasteners.

I have read that "super 77" adhisive spray works really well. and regular chipboard could be used for a backing?
or foam?

i would not know about super 77. i am looking into getting abs plastic for mine or a replacement foam board
