I do not like GTs, the factory body kits look like crap too me. Coupes are a little lighter, and a little sturdier. Knowing that I have a hatchback, because Ilike the way they look better than the coupes. If you plan on any modding, y need to get a mass air car, speed density does not take kindly to mods. Just my take on the car, year does not really matter to me, but other have a preferance.

Screw looks, my first priority is speed man. Any recommendations on speed, before '95? Mods also are in mind. I'm just talkin' about stock power, and power after mods... Thanks.

What do you to know? What cam to get? Hydro roller around 220 500 112, Long tube headers, at least 3.55 gears, alum heads edels, AFR, or TFS. Supercharger VORTECH, or NOVI.

I think because of the windsor block. That would be me guess.

Ok, enough splitting hairs. ;)
The best-bang-for-the-buck Mustang would have to be a Foxbody('79-93). The '79 to '85 and '86 non-GT cars can be found dirt cheap and were carbed, so tuning is easy with aftermarket stuff. The only real exception to that is the '84-86 Mustang SVO, which had a 2.3L turbocharged four-banger. They are very rare and considered collectors cars, so buying one to mod isnt a good idea. The lightest and stiffest chassis is the notchback, BTW.
