Transmission Question

Ok I have a strange question, I have 1992 3000gt VR-4 with a transmission problem (2 quarter-sized holes in the mid to upper case and several pen-sized holes in the pan.) it happened under normal running conditions and the car will still run and drive fine with the holes. First question: would it be possible to weld the case with a tig welder, fill it with oil and run it as is? Second question: if that is not advised can the transfer case be used on a transmission from a non all wheel drive car?

Welding cast aluminum is in threory possible, but it would be a bitch.

And no you cant use a transfer case on a FWD trans, there is no place to put it, nor does the trans have a center diff or VCU.
