Drove my Lumina to work today. No problem. Was going to lunch and the engine would turn over like it wanted to start but wouldn't. Tried this several times. Any idea what it might be? Ignition or fuel problem?

would it even fire a little? a lot of times when this happens to these things (worked fine one moment and then totally suddenly doesn't) it's caused by a faulty ignition control module or a faulty crank position sensor.

It's not even firing a little. It will just crank. I did notice though when I turn the key to the on postion the "service engine soon" light blinks once and then stays lit. Could this be a service code for a problem?

no, it shouldn't flash any codes unless you jumper it. (I think)

I'm willing to bed it's your ICM or CPS as stated earlier. It's common. The CPS is only like $20 or something, try that first.

Is there a low oil pressure sensor/switch that prevents the car from starting if the oil pressure is low? The reason I ask is because when I checked my oil yesterday, in the process of trying to figure out what may be wrong, oil wasn't even registering on the dipstick. I added a couple of quarts, tried starting it a few times and it didn't start. About an hour later I tried it again, it started. Shame on me for not paying closer attention to my oil. Could this be it or do you still think I have a failing CPS or ICM. I went home changed my oil and filter. I even bought a new CPS. Looked at where the CPS was located and figured I would try to wait for the weekend to mess with it. By the way, what size is that nut holding it on?

hey i have had this same problem and i went and got a (CPS) but i cant find where the hell it is to replace it so i am stuck. If it is not the cps then how much would a ignition control module cost?????
