its a common problem with all the internal coil distributors. most people convert to an external coil using either MSDs conversion distributor cap or a modified stock cap.

this seems to be isolated to the Dseries, because my buddy had the same problem with his D16 but not with his B20vtec.

he changed the coil to a MSD unit to rectify the problem with his D's

you think that sucks? how about having your rotor fall off inside the dizzy. happened to me once on every EF ive ever owned. then i put loc-tite on the screw.

a friend of mine called me 2 days after i swapped a b16 into his hatch, saying i must have botched the wire harness conversion. i asked what happened, he said he was broken down because the car started driving sluggish and then killed and wouldnt start back up. i told him to take his cap off and check the rotor and then to call me back. he called back 2 minutes later calling me an "evil genius" and a few other weird compliments. then he drove it back to my house and we put loc-tite on it and its been good since.

he admitted that he figured i was giving him the runaround because he thought i didnt want to come help him fix it on the side of the road. he apologized later

That happened to mine also. Except mine actually snapped the screw head right off.

my rotor fell off while i was doing 130kms on the highway. pulled to the side took the cap off and the screw was chillin in the cap still. got it back in and drove another 3hrs.
