I Picked Up This 92 Escort Off Of My Friend. She Drove It One Night And The Next Day It Just Wouldn't Start. She Replaced The Spark Plug Wires Not Too Long Ago So It's Not That. There Doesn't Seem To Be Any Power Going To The Fuel Pump And There Isn't Any Spark At The Plugs. Any Ideas? Help Is Appreciated.

What size engine do you have? How many miles
Is the starter engaging when you try to start it?
Do any of the accessories work.....heater, headlights etc.?

Everything Works I'm Not Certain What Engine Is In It Smallest I Would Imagine It's A Stock 4 door sedan type thing it's 4 cylinder for sure. Yeah And Everything Turns On....Can't Hear The Fuel Pump When It's Turned On Can't Seem To Find Power Back There Either. I was thinking coil pack cuz there's no spark but there's no power in places too...so i don't know any help would be appreciated . it's got 290 000 km on it at least...

If the starter is working, the starter relay is good.
Information is keyed to the type/size engine. Look at the engine and you should see numbers on the valve cover/s example: 1.6L, 1.8, 1.9 2.0L etc.
If you can't identify the engine by looking, give me the 8th digit of the VIN number seen through the windshield on the driver's side.

Make sure you have fuel in the tank. Turn the ignition switch 'On' do you hear a 'click' (fuel pump relay) if not, check the Main Fuse is not blown, if it is, replace it. Also check the inertia (fuel shut-off) switch behind a panel in the trunk area (I believe its on the R/H side on a 92) The switch has a button on top. Push down on the button with the key 'on' you should hear the pump run.

Remove the rear seat cushion by feeling under the front of it with your fingers approx 8 inches from each end you will find a seat cushion release button. Under the seat is a jumper wiring harness with at least one fuse. Check that fuse and any others under there. If the fuse is blown your car won't start. This jumper harness was installed by dealers as part of a Ford Recall back in 1994. DO NOT BYPASS the fuse. Replace it. The fuse blows when the fuel pump ground goes bad and prevents a backfeed through your main vehicle wiring harness. You will have to also replace the fuel pump to correct the condition. If you bypass the fuse ALL of the main harness will fry in the car and chances are car will be a write off at this age.
Good Luck.
