Oil leak

Hey,
I purchased my truck recently and the previous owner at some point must have screwed up the threads on the oil pan plug. I took it to get the oil changed and they told me that there was an expandable plug in it. It has a slow leak all the time coming from the plug. They told me that I needed to replace the pan because the threads were so screwed up that it couldn't be rethreaded. Do you guys know of any trick to fix or slow the leak, short of spending a ton to replace the pan?
Thanks,
Jimmy Dager

I don't know much but depending on how you want to do it you could possibly seal up the plug and then tap a new one next to it, or you could even just drill a hole and put a small screw in it . I doubt either one of these ideas are any good but it might help if your just wanting a rig up

You could possibly get some thread sealant like they use on steel gas pipes and smear on the bolt threads. Either that or put teflon tape sealant around the bolt and that should help slow the leak.

I would put a rubber o-ring on it to see if that would stop, or slow down the leak
