I have to replace my 1998 taurus windshield. I got one windshield in junk yard, but it doesn't have rubber (gasket/frame). Maybe somebody can tell me where can I buy that rubber/gasket/frame?
thanks

I would think that the junkyard would still be your best bet for that. Otherwise, if the rubber isn't combined with the glass into one part, I suppose you could go to the dealer and have them rip you off. You're not going to find this at a parts store.

Have an auto glass shop replace the windshield, less chance of a water leak. The auto glass shopshould have the rubber gasket, whatever holds the windshield in stock

That particular moulding is not available separately. When a new windshield is ordered for the taurus the moulding comes with it. There are similar mouldings available for it but it will not be a perfect match.

I have replaced a lot of these windshields. It is very unlikely that you will be able to get this moulding off another car without snapping it.

Did you price a new w/s before you bought a used one? People do this all the time and I can't figure out why. (it's one of my pet-peeves)

By the time you pay a wrecker $100 or more, plus another $80 or more for a glass shop to install it, you are right in the price range for a brand new one.

-In an effort to save some poor glass guy a ton of trouble, please don't try to replace it yourself.

I bought windshield from junk yard for $35 and found moulding (gasket/frame) in junk yard for $7. so it is $42. I gonna change it on weekend in my driveway. i don't agree with <BLACK LABEL> : "don't try to replace it yourself", why not, I will save at least $150 and it is not so hard to replace it.
