hey currently im running 3 700 watt mmats subs to a 1400.05 mmats classd amp and all 0gauge wire to the battery under the hood. My question is if i add a 2nd battery in the trunk do you think i would get more power or maybe make the subs a little louder??

No, it MIGHT stabilize voltage. But, it will be more stress on your alternator. The proper thing to do is upgrade your alternator. Check out www.sounddomain.com ->forums ->electrical explanations

There are TWO alternator group buys going on at the moment. Excessive Amperage AND Iraggi Alternators...

I myself own a Mean-Green. (www.mean-green.com)

Ditto above./\/\/\/\/\/\
You can't just add a battery and expect it to work with stock alt.. I suggest going with one great gel cel and new alt..

quick question on the subject. when adding a second battery, does there need to be some form of diode between the two or are there not usually any problems with just the straight wire?

also, can you have too much output from you alternator or is more better? i was checkin out the mean green 220 amp.

screw wha noah says. run a 2nd battery it will work better then a new alternator. Most of those HO alts still put out the same at and near idle. just connect the two batts directly with 1/0 awg. I'd suggest a optima D31 yellow top.

And watch the reliability and the life of your alternator slowly decrease until it shits out on you :(

You have to have some type of battery management hardware to isolate the batteries output currents. If you have hte right equipment a second battery will definitely be better than a HO alternator cuz it will only charge hte second battery when the alt is at high speeds and it will close the circuit at idle keeping the boom from your system from raping your regulator/alt. heres a few links i found right off hte top of google...

http://www.4wdsystems.com.au/html/isolators.htm- this one looks promising but if you drain the second battery you are kinda screwed for audio until it charges.

http://www.geocities.com/harald_nancy/isolator.htm - interesting but I dont think this will handle high current aplications like car audio.

http://www.bcae1.com/battiso.htm - More info on isolators

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=44071 - super sized pictures...

But I'd take a yellow top over this crap any day.
