Here's my Caterham project. I started with the engine, as that is the part I like the most in this model. It's the Opel/Vauxhall C20XE with throttle bodies and I have two of them in my real cars. I changed the color scheme more towards the original colors of the engine, the biggest difference being the red engine block.

Here are the pictures of the progress so far:
www.ocf.fi/modelcar/caterham/

The engine is almost ready, missing some fuel lines etc. I have to dismantle it a little bit when the time of dropping it in the car gets closer, but I wanted to build first the engine without the car, it is just so nice. Some parts are scratch built, but mostly it's "from the box" but with more realistic colors.

OK, time for an update after a long time. I have been buidling the model every now and then.

The engine was on display on a car show in Tampere, Finland:

First time with the engine in the frame:
http://www.ocf.fi/modelcar/caterham/P6050005.JPG

The frame painted with Tamiya semi gloss black:

The steering rack:

The steering rack installed in the now complete frame:

Aluminium panels attached to the frame:

Complete frame:

Testing with the side panels painted silver and the wheels black, starts to look like a car:

Test with the still yellow parts:

Without the panels, "naked" for the last time:

One of the shocks:

Buidling the front suspension (also the vented front brake discs):

The current state of the model:

Front suspension done on both sides:

The side panels are now installed. But then a disaster happened... I ran out of paint! You can't get Tamiya TS spray paints here in Finland which was used on the side panels... so now I'm thinking of some kind of 2-tone plan for the car. The other panels are primed and need to be painted. I guess the Tamiya spray cans are meant more for 1:24 cars and I used the whole can on the side panels... (3 coats of paint + clear) :(

Colors for the 2-tone paint are not decided yet, first I was thinking of red/silver, but now a gunmetal/silver scheme seems more interesting. Originally it was going to be completely silver.

The motor comes with the kit (only the JPE version of the Tamiya 1:12 Caterham), I bought the kit from Stockholm, Sweden.

I didn't completely forget about this build, but it's even still not finished... but I have done something to it. I also have built couple of 1:25 models in between... :)

But after watching some of the S7 builds here (I have the Tamiya 1:24 kit also, but it is waiting to be built after this, so I couldn't join the group build with it) I had to update this thread of my Super 7 build also... :)

Here are some mock-up pictures of the car with the body panels. Some of the panels will be just bare aluminium and I stripped them from any paint, they just need to be polished a little. Rear fenders and nose cone are charcoal mica with clear (2 layer Opel automotive paint), front fenders will stay unpainted for the black plastic fender look. I think unpainted plastic will look more like plastic than painted...
http://www.ocf.fi/modelcar/caterham/Q6040003.jpg
http://www.ocf.fi/modelcar/caterham/Q6040005.jpg

Then I finished the front suspension:
http://www.ocf.fi/modelcar/caterham/P3250111.JPG

And this is the state of the model at the moment:
http://www.ocf.fi/modelcar/P3310012.jpg

I will still do some modifications to the engine.

But really one reason I love Super Sevens is that you can build them so differently and they look so good... :)

You will find that http://www.antaresmodels.com/ has a interesting detail set, perhaps they want to sell some parts separately
Cheers
