Hey.
By Oct. I am hoping to have about $4,000 - $5,000 for a car with a possible $500 +/-. What car would best suit me and why?

Heres whats important to me:

Reliable - Must be a good car that's cheap to fix, and won't break down.

Good performance - Not looking for a V-8 320-hp car, but something like an Integra or an Accord is OK with me becuase I will be doing minor engine mods on these.

Easy find parts - parts are cheap and easy to find, especially aftermarket.

Luxury is important to me, so I listed the ES300 which i really want, and saw a few for around my price range.

the integra gs-r will be your best bet. Very reliable, good on gas, supported very well win it comes to aftermarket. I think you can get some with leather seats etc. very nice car.

That's the car that I was looking at for a long time, only it's hard to find a decent GSR with low miles for a good price.

either a gsr or possibly a 1G talon or eclipse although some would disagree with a dsm

gonna have a hard time finding a GSR that doesn't have serious problems for less than $5k

Go with the legend. Performance is really good with the 230hp 3.2L and Power Everything. They called it the legend for a reason. The aftermarket is pretty good.

Can you get a maxima for that much money? How many mies would it have on it? Nice car for the money.

I would personally go with Lexus, there's less of these cars on the roads.

But he said thats exactly what he didnt want. He said he wanted a popular car so he could get parts easier.

Im going to have to choose the Integra GS-R because maybe im a little biased, but I think that's the best one on the list if you only have $4-$5K. If you have a better budget than it might be different. If you had bout $7-$8k then I say go with the 240SX (still being biased) because you can go KA-T or SR20DET with that kind of money. BTW if you find a GS-R with low miles and at that price than GET IT! It's hard to find one these days with low miles and a good price.

You won't find any integras or 240sx (in good condition) at 4 grand. I myself am looking at a car in the 4 grand range, so im thinking of a maxima or altima right now. accords in that range are going to be high mileage also.

I would definatley go with the intega GSR. and yes you can find one around for 4-5k that is in good condition you just have to know where to look.

How about Infiniti i30 1996 model? I am getting one for 4K.

My friend tells me that Nissan introduced this vehicle in 1996. I was wondering if this is a reliable car... especially since that was their first year of manufacturing the car.

The current owner of the car said that the Check Engine Light on the car came on a few days back. Anyone here know of any known problems with this car?

Any info about this model will be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as the thread starter. What can I expect from an acura legend?

The infiniti cars are pretty well built but like every car the first year models arent usually the most reliable. Thats when most problems arise in a new car model and are removed. The check engine light is a pretty general light so there could be alot of things wrong. Check the fluids first.

I'm looking at the same price range (little higher, I'm thinking more 4-6k), and I'm finding a lot of nice late 90's subaru's that fit the bill (Impreza's, Legacy's, etc). Granted you're not going to find an RS or WRX for under 6 without some sort of problem, but, hell, I hear they're great cars and plenty of mod possibilities in the aftermarket. They don't look too bad either.

Of your choices I'll have to echo the Integra GSR thought. Best bang for your buck on that list.
