what can happen

One night my ex-boyfriend was driving me home in his corvette. We got on the expressway and he started racing a 240sx next to us. We were on a big long straight-away and we got up to 120mph. We were like a car length ahead. Then we came to a dip in the road and my ex lost control of the car. We spun off the road, went up and over an overpass, and then flipped and rolled into a ditch. When we were flipping I was thrown threw the windshield. My ex was completely unharmed. I wasn't as lucky. I broke ribs, a cheekbone, my pelvis, and my spine in several spots. Luckily, I'm not paralyzed. I also had massive internal bleeding. I spent a week in the intensive care unit with less than a 10% chance of survival. All because of that race.
A guy at my high school was racing and hit another car at over 100mph. His mother was the driver of the other car. He killed her and is currently in prison.
I don't race anymore. I don't want to re-live that night. No one should have to go threw all that pain. Tracks are so much safer than the streets. I hate the movies that glorify this deadly habit that almost killed me. It's easy to think something like this will never happen to you... I know I did. Please take me seriously and pass this along. Maybe we can save some lives.

I feel bad for you, and I hope you're ok, but it seems as if something as simple as a seatbelt would've prevented a lot of injury in your case. If you were wearing one, then disregard that last statement. And as far as the dangers, I think everyone here is well aware of the dangers of street racing. I understand where you're coming from, but isn't this a little like walking into a bar and asking everyone to stop drinking because alcohol gave you liver cancer?

If you took some time to read through the posts in this forum you will see that the regulars of this forum don't do the kinds of things that you see in the movies. Most of us do simple light to light racing and racing from a roll on the freeway.
These kinds of posts will only piss some people off. This is the street racing forum and people will always street race. There is nothing you can do to change that short of taking away their freedom. It sucks what happens sometimes, people die, and sometimes for stupid reasons but that is life.
