bent valves?

ok i think i have bent valves, but i dont and never hurd and knocks, ticks, or clanks of any kind. wouldnt i hear something if i had bent valves?

what makes you think you have bent valves? Give us the symptoms of your car and put the make and model plus and mods in your sig so we know what you are driving.

well hope you dont have bent valves cause then you have to replace the engine or rebuild it. but more info is needed to help, Thanks.

if you bent the valves its not the end of the world. if you cracked the valve guides you could have warped the head. do a compression check.

you'd only bend the valves if your timing marks were off. were you messing around with the timing belt, cams??

its a 95 tsi awd and yes i was doing the water pump timing belt and all the other good stuff. i did a compression test and 0 came up. if the timing was off someting should show up on the gauge right. not just 0. but then again like i said befor i never hurd ant clanks or anything. i really dont want to pull the head just to check.

0 compression could be lots of things. it could be bad rings, bent valves, head gasket or lots of others. if you bent the valves you may or may not have heard anything. your timing has to be perfect or damn near for the car to run. if the timing was off you probably did bend some valves. the only way to check is to pull the head and take it in.

I toasted my valves when the dealership failed to tension my t-belt correctly and didn't hear a thing. My compression was shot, I don't remember it being zero but not far from it. Might want to retry the timing belt job with a new set of valves, the zero compression is pretty telling. You don't have to remove the block, just the head.

It your valves are screwed, as gthompson97 above me posted, your car won't run. If you want to narrow down options, try a leakdown test.

i want ahead and said fuck it and pulled the head anyways and sure enough i have bent valves. now i have to get a rebuild andSHOULD be back on the road. just thought i would inlighten every1. thanks for every1s help.
