That is a Grade A-pos. #1 that is a WAI...
www.RDfabs.com we can hook you up with a quality Stainless steel intake which dose not absorb heat like the properties of aluminum does. Only minimal amount of conduction occurs. The quality is Grade A steel and workmanship exceeds those of AEM or Injen. I'll throw some pics up soon.

the intake i have is identical to that and it fits perfectly in my 98 2.2, and i didnt even have to take the air box out, i did anyways though, maybe you need to take the big air box thing out, all i did was a BUNCH of pulling and wiggling, if i remember right i took the battery out to make it easier

Also is there a difference between a short ram intake and a cai?probably stupid question but i gotta learn sometime.

yes... CAI runs down into the fender. WAI stays basically in you engine compartment and the cone sits over the black box.

heres the picture ya wanted, if it shows up, i hope this helps, obviously thats with the air box pulled out, like i said before, to get it out you just need to take your battery out and do ALOT of pulling and wiggling, theres no bolts/screws or anything holding it in

look at the pic you posted. Where your intake mounts to your engine.. " the black box that says 2200 sfi"... a quality intake will mount directly onto your throttle body. That thing is a pos Air silencer..

I have thought about it, but don't have the time. Two jobs and school is pretty time consuming. They don't bother me enough to put a big rush on it to take them off. I have other things that I want to put on/in the car first. I also hate the door handles, but not much I can do about that.

Get a 90 degree 3" ruber elbow and 2 clamps, and see if you can get it to fit correctly.

www.RDFABS.com 100% stainless steel intakes, better quality over the aluminum ones that absorb heat like a bitch. All intakes are hand made and welded for a superior quality that AEM or INJEN cannot match with their mass production ones. These are even priced far below that of of AEM or INJEN. Best group of guys, i have ever met and i will back them with everything i have!

CRJ, in that pic i posted, i have a blue coupler holding that intake tube to the engine, just to the left of that blue intake coupler youll see a hose coming out of that black 2200 plastic thing and going right into the top of the engine, what is that?? is it important? what do i do with it should i decide to take that whole plastic piece off???

THat would be the hose comming off your PCV valve. Its more of an emissons thing than anything else. It takes the fumes from under the valve cover and they go back through the engine to be burned off. If you totally remove that black box thing and look at your TB, its going to be cover is black carbon deposits from the PCV valve. I have a breather filter over mine and its " better for your TB".. no more black build up. Just get some Carb/TB cleaner with the engine off shoot some into their and clean er up!
