i disconnected my battery to install a new distributor cap and rotor and a tachometer. Now that ive reconnected the battery, the radio wants a security code. I heard that around here there was someone who worked for honda that could find all the codes...

its a 1999 civic with a cd/radio deck (no tape)
s/n: M98F309950
Model #: 39100-S02-A100
ref # CQ-JH5812Z

Also, is it written somewhere? I was looking around the car but couldnt find anything... i just dont know where to look.
any help is much appreciated

my crx had the antitheft feature on it before I had it taken out also. I found the code on the receipt for it, on the manual for the car and radio, and on two little cards...my car has all the stuff that it had 15 years ago, you might not be so lucky.

yea i got it fixed. i had to take of the trim panels and use a mirror and flashlight to see deep in there and read teh serial # and model #, along with my VIN #. Just took that info to a nearby dealer and showed them picture ID and the title to the car and they gave me the code. it was a heck of a lot of work for one 6 digit number... but it works now.

I think on that year Civic, the code is printed on a piece of paper stuck to the top of the little pocket below the radio, but that would involve you pulling the dash apart to get the unit out. Making a trip to Honda is much easier for most people.
