so does anybody know how to install a reverse glow gauge..just like the one below? so yeah how do i fit the needle through the hole? coz the guys from circuit city told me that they hav to make a tiny cut by the hole so they can fit the needle..i dont really feel comfortable with them making a tiny cut. if thats the only way...wont cutting it damage the glow gauge?

Just pull the needles off. Its an easy 2 wire system, So all you need is a power and a ground. Ive got mine hooked up through a toggle switch so it is really idiot proof.

and your needles still work after taking them off?

ive heard of tons of peoples needles not working after they removed them to put on reverse glow gauges

yeah they work fine. I only had to take off the speedo and tach needles, the gas and temp needles can slip under the gauges. Make sure you dont move your temp and gas needles, or mark where the needles need to be at on the gauges. Also, after you put the tach and speedo needles back on, drive with a buddy to make sure the speed is right, and remember what your car idles at for your tach. Make sure your car is warmed up though or they could be off. Pull the needles off with a golf divet tool and do it gently, then simply press them back on, but not too hard because otherwise they will rub your gauges and not work right.

yeah i heard of ppls speedometer not working right after they pulled the needle off......so anyway where would u suggest i should get the power from?

Well there are a couple places. Some people tap into their parkin lights, but I didnt know which wires they were. So i put a toggle switch next to the cig. lighter, and used the power and ground off of the lighter to power the switch. Then i hooked up some black lights and my gauges to the switch. It was pretty easy, and doesnt take a lot of time. The most time consuming part is taking out your cluster and fitting the gauges in there. The gauges prolly have a transformer with them, and I just put that behind my stearing collum along with the switch to control the gauge brightness and color. Just take your time takin off the neddles, and be gentle with the whole thing. The only reason I could see your needles not workin later on is if you like tear them off...slow and steady makes for a nice final look. Good luck!

i finally installed my reverse glow gauge yesterday...it was pretty easy. and i agree it idiot proof. i pulled the needles out except for the gas and temp needles. for power i tap on to one of the +/- on the back of the gauges. you know how you turn ur headlight on the dash turns on too? well i was able to tap my reverse glow gauge to that power sourse..i hav 100% use of the stock dimmer and everything works like stock. so yeah it was a successful install....

oh and instead of using a golf divet tool i used a small fork ( yes.same fork u use to eat your dessert.lol)to pull the needles...it worked out fine. its always good to mark where the gauges are before doing anything..i mean wen i was installing the glow gauge for the gas and temp i accidentally moved the needles, i would say i moved it pretty far from wer it was.. but wen i started the car and drove it.everything was fine. gas was right on the line where i marked it and temp was on the line too and the speedometer and tach were right on the mark. i just saved $80 on installation if i had taken it to a "Professional".
