New camaro confirmed?

Well i finally decided to read my new motortrend. I flipped over to the new pontiac GTO article and at the bottom it was talking bout cars that will run on the new "zeta" platform. And at the bottom it says check out these other american cars that will be built on the platform.
Ponttiac G8
Checrolet Chevelle
Buick Velite
Chevy Camaro
Pontiac G4.

So have they confirmed a new camaro?
It also says this after the camaro name thing
"One of the most iconic names in the Chevrolet pantheon. The smaller Beta Platform would distance the camaro from the GTO and actually take the nameplate back to its ponycar roots. GM promised the Canadian Auto Workers it wouldnt' build a new Camaro unless it was in teh Canadian factory, so it's either a Great White North plant or a new name."

It happened a while back, maybe 3-4 weeks ago. Could be a bit longer as well.
GM said they are working on other things though. Who knows?? Lutz needs to remove his head from his ass, and try not to shove it back in right away.

I don't know about you guys but I've heard that the Chevelle will replace and Camaro and be Chevy's new pony car. Anybody hear the same?

i guess u havent seen the post we had a week ago about this. last month our hopes and dreams were shattered when a article was posted in here about gm turning their backs on zeta so they can aim money to quickly push out new suv's and crap. then someone else posted about a new camaro, then i lost my mind calling gm every name in the book, now ill just say it wont happen kid. not in your life time or mines. maybe in 2030 when cars are flying a camaro might be reborn

yeah i know but gm pushed back the flrying car till2030, it sucks but hey at least when we get our camaro back it will have a jet engine. damn a ls6 lol

The new Gto was ok reminded me alot of the older one with the new front end. As for them killing off the platform i take it the GTO will be the only one in america using it? Kinda sucks i say GM has to be loosing at to ford since there is no camaro ne more? Yet the mustang has had like one of its most popular designs in years.

well the problem is do u want to make a car thats worth the money spent, or do u wanna make a car that gives up a bit for the pocket= ford winning over the camaro. trust me, as a guy whos owned both, the mustang is a ok car i got mines brand damn new in va beach for 15 grand and that was a v8. u figure how much a ls1 camaro goes for even now and then think of how much u would have payed when it was brand new. 2 cars in the same class but one is alot cheaper than the other, but on the other hand look at which car had the most cubic inches, which one had the fastest car. then look at specialty cars that can be afforded by the actual working person, and how many body styles were updated to keep the consumer wanting more.that all added up in the long run.the only thing we had was better performance, and in the end if u can put out a decent car thats somewhat fast and dont take your left nut being sold to get it, then you'll win that battle every time.

the chevelle was never a pony car b4, so i hope it doens't become one, its supposed to come out as chevy's counterpart to the GTO on the same platform...

Yeah chevelle and and GTOs are or atleast were A-Bodies but I kinda get the feeling GM really wouldnt give an F... body about that, Monte Carlo was an A-body too, but I dont see a 400 hp engine in it

AS FOR THE NEW CAMARO here is what I think: I think it will happen but GM is gonna keep flipping the light on and off on what they are working on, especially something such as bringing the camaro back. They couldn't just bring the Camaro back and expect mustang sales results. Basically they need to follow suit with mustang in the sense that they need a big media frenzy. You wouldnt just have to list the specifications on the new camaro, you would have to show a commercial with 4 white guys in mustang GT/Mach/Cobra being general idiots talking about how cool they are while driving down some empty arterial road, then have Mr. Tall dark and hansome pull in the lane next to them and follow through with a pass. After that the mustang idiots will feel their pride has been tested so they have to pass this guy but Camaro is simply too much for the mustang. After that, go to a cut scene of Steve McQueen crying.

And im done

PS: Steve McQueen is alright in my book, and yes, Bullitt was awesome

or they could just have a clip of the new camaro whipping the hell out of a mustang... that would sell me.. however, i dont see that happening on a commercial..
