Hi,
I have a 97 chevy cavalier with 48k miles on it. The car runs fine and has no problems. When I switch on the AC there is a rattling sound coming from under the hood. The sound disappears when the AC is switched off. One mechanic made me buy a new AC clutch and charged quite a hell for changing it. The rattling stopped. Now after 2 months it has started again (and the mechanic has closed shop).
I go to another mechanic and he now says I need to replace the compressor. Are they all just taking me for a ride? The AC works perfectly fine in terms of cooling, except for this rattle. Please give your valuable suggestions. They will be much appreciated.
Thank you.
