Any suggestions on brand of fuel pump to use? A/C delco verses Bosch or others. auto zone pump (bosch) $92.99, advance auto (master Brand) $73.99. Dealership not open today but I've been told their pump is over $300.00. I've been getting this p0300 code(radom missfire), now the fuel pump is acting up, the relay for the pump got hot and started to melt, I'm assuming the pump is going bad, could this be contributing to the p0300 code? Any advice? Thanks in advance. :banghead:

A misfire is most likely a spark/timing problem. Its possible your distributor is off timed. As far as a pump, or really anything else, do not buy something because it is cheaper. Do yourself a favor and buy a factory replacement. I think mine was around $285.

I agree go with OEM AC delco parts. As far as the misfire, that can be a number of things. Is it a P0300 or a specific Misfire code like P0301,P0302,........P0308? Are you using a good scanner that is capable of GM specific codes? or generic? Test your fuel pump volume/ pressure output before buying costly items that are not bad in the first place.

I bought a AC pump from the GM dealership, my cost was $90 retails for $140. Mine wasn't bad at all to change other than dropping the tank. I just had a chance to drive it down the road and it didn't act up, I'll post again after I drive it some to see what happens. Thanks

truck seems to be running fine no p0300 code as of yet. about 100 mile on it since fuel pump change. I do still have a fuel smell while the truck is running, I smell gas in the truck. I've checked it out good on top and bottom and see no evidence of a leak. Any suggestions? I checked from the tank to the injection connection with the pump running.

I find the pump separate for the 97 pickup but not thr tahoe.
The 98 pickup gets the whole unitized pump.
I've got mine apart now and the pump is Carter which is NAPA supplied while iI was on the road afew years ago.
I'll most likely use AC Delco this time. But I'm still wondering about the Delphi brand. (new factory parts supplier in place of delco).

my new ac delco pump is alot quieter than the one I removed. I have notice today though it still has the random miss.
