i recently purchased the Edelbrock TES headers from jegs. They came with the AIR fittings which was stock on my 86 Z28...so i will be needing them from inspection....but i have about 3 months left until my inspection runs out and i dont wanna try to hook all the emissions stuff back up, firstly because i dont wanna try and secondly because i'm told they will suffocate the engine...so i am wondering if i can just plug the wholes that the emissions tubes plug into on both the headers and the converter ??? will this cause any losses of power or problems ??

isecondly because i'm told they will suffocate the engine.Whoever told you that knows nothing about about the A.I.R system and what it does.
You can plug those ports if you want to but it would be easier to hook it all up before the headers have been run with the tubes capped, heat and corrosion will make it harder later on.
All the A.I.R. system does is pump air into the exhaust manifolds (or headers) for 15 seconds to get the exhaust hot faster. After that it ports the air to the converter to get it lit off quicker, then it ports the air to atmosphere. The pump takes a whole 1-2 hp to run...wow.

well i hooked all of the air fittings up to that old pump..but there are still two holes on the pump that are unplugged....one blows air out and one doesn't seem to do ne thing....but that doesn't seem to be a prob... i hooked up the headers and the new cat which is 3"'s diameter ....then since i dont have the $$ money for a new cat back...i bolted the 3'' cat onto the stock exhaust system which is only like 2 1/4 inches....the car idles fine and is super quiet...but after i rev it and the tach goes down it just stalls....im pretty frustrated and worried...ne idea what this could be ???

Did you put the check valves on the headers? The ones that were on your old manifolds.
2 open ports on the pump?... There should only be ONE port on the pump.
Hose routing should be from pump to the PEDES valve (Pressure Operated Electric Divert/Electric Switching Valve ) the valve has 3 ports, one goes to the manifolds/headers with a check valve for each header/manifold. The other port goes to the converter and the third goes to a little cannister that is the atmosphere dump.

yes...i took the old reactors off the manifolds and put them onto the new headers....and then i kinda got lost...im not sure where to put the hoses...there are a total of five on my pump...two at the very top that are angled at 90 degress..neither of which seem to emit anything when the engine is started...then below those are two holes..one on each side of the pump...and one about 1'' above the other...the bottom one blows air out when the engine is running...but the top does nothing...and at the very bottom is a vertical port that has a larger tube diameter..that goes under the car...so i dont know which holes to plug the headers tubes into..right now both of the tes tubes are just plugged into random ports that dont blow air out when the engine is started....ne help would be great.

Is this a TPI engine or a carb?

Check the emission hose routing diagram under the hood, if it is still there. It should show where they all go.
