Jetta 2001 1.8t shuts down when....

I got this jetta, and when ever im on the highway it just shuts down, so i just close the ignition switch and turn it back on and the cars keeps going again, but after a few mins it happenes again...

Anyone knows what it might be ?

Does the check engine light stay on?

yeah its always been on
also, when the engine dies, the lights stays on and music keeps playen so i duno if its eletrical

Sounds like ignition switch electrical portion.
