ok! dumb question about compressors

My 12 yr old grandson and I are going to paint our first car. From what I've read so far my 30 gal, 9.1 cfm @ 40psi compressor is not big enough to do the job without possible problems. So can I hook up two compressors about the same size feeding one line to compensate? I know it's dumb but ignorance is bliss.
