99 Honda Accord Speaker problem

Hello all there, I have my first car 99 Honda Accord months ago. And I figured out that my car's left & rear side speakers have No Sound. Does anyone know what is the major problem ? One more question, if I need to replace a new speaker, do i must to replace all the Four speaker in the same time, or just replace the one that does not work(May I install the different Watt speaker with my current one) ?? Possible causes of no sound:
Speaker wire came detached from speaker...pull out the speakers and check the connections
Damaged headunit..my old stock one didnt play out of two speakers either.

A damaged speaker(blown) will still make noise, it will just sound bad.

Check your connections and get back to us...

since speakers always come in pairs, and you have the front and rear not working, it sounds like you will need to replace all 4 if the speaker is your problem.

I would cheack your fade and balance to make sure they arent all pushed to one side. I would also hookup a known good speaker to the spot of a bad speaker to see if it's the speaker or the head unit. It could be the wiring but that is very highly unlikely. Make sure you figure out which wire is positive and neg so you will hook the speakers up correctly.

When you buy new speakers the wattage does not matter your your application. Any speaker you find will work great with the factory radio. Just about all radios put out 22 watts per speaker. As long as the speakers RMS wattage is above 22 watts it will work. The reason there are higher wattage speakers is for people that will connect them to amplifiers.

Turbo's right, pretty much any speaker you buy will work fine. I doubt you're planning on spending hundreds of dollars on speakers that need more power than your stock deck puts out so don't worry about that. Also, check and see if you have the original honda speakers in the car. The easiest way to do that is to open the trunk and look under the rear deck. The magnets of the speakers may or may not say honda, but look at the wires. If they go into a plug that plugs right into the speaker, then they're stock. In that case, no one's probably tampered with the audio system before so a damaged speaker wire probably isn't going to be an issue. In that case, it's more likely that your speakers are blown that for the deck's outputs to be gone. Since it sounds like you don't know a whole lot (which is fine) I wouldn't try to troubleshoot much there. I would replace your speakers, maybe two at a time (say, the back first) and see if that works. If not, replace your deck. When you do replace your speakers, you can buy a harness to plug into that factory speaker plug that will not only prevent you from having to cut the plug off and make your own connections, but it will also show you which of the wires is positive and negative. You can buy those almost anywhere that sells car audio stuff.

Today I just checked what the problem was, and I found that's not the problem of the SPEAKER because I tried to replace a working speaker on it, and it did not working. What i think is maybe the damage of the wire. Actually I am not very sure. Any suggestion what i need to check next ?? Thanks for your help.

I suggest finding what you want on Crutchfield.com and buy it on ebay. That's prob the cheapest way to get a new stereo. Crutchfield has lots of good information, but sell at MSRP. Everything is cheaper in Ebay.

May be that's the problem my car has, because I don't know anything about cars audio.Sigh~~~~~ :crying: :crying:

I had the same prob. in my 93 teg... i thought it was my head unit... so i sold it for a little bit of nothing thinking that the amp (chip) in the unit went out.. so i sold a $300 head unit for $75.. not thinking hey check the initial car wiring.. come to find out my 2 rear speakers were not getting power and worked if i ran the speakers with new wire to my head unit.. i ended up re-running all my speaker connections and have yet to have a problem with it.. the cause of the bad wires i still have yet to find out.. maybe this will help you.. good luck..

hey i got the same problem too. But i was tried to find how to balance out the speaker and i couldn't find the way for it. Any one could help me with that, there aren't any button the audio for balancing the speakers out.
