Burnt Oil Omfgbbq!!

I have changed my oil with 4q and a full filter for a year and I have never had any problems... until TODAY! On my way to the runs my low oil light came on, I turned around and came home, and as I opened the cap I saw the most horrible sight ever - SMOKE AHHHHH!
My dipstick has sticky sticky black oil on it, and its so loow.
Oil: valvoline synthetic 10-30
Fill: 4q measured into case, full filter
What do i do now? How do I clean it? WTF happend to my 4quarts of oil? Is smoking really bad? If I drove less than a mile since the light came on will life ever be the same?

First of all I would check the following, oil plug to make sure it didn't drop out. Check oil filter seal they can sometimes crack or pull out of the filter causing the oil to pump out very rapidly. You may never see this until you find you are out of oil. Also you may have had a rear main seal go out. Usually they will leak some before letting go altogether but nothing is impossible.
As for cleaning the engine, allow it to cool and purchase some cheap oil the Walmart brand is inexpensive and has a good additive package. Replace the oil filter. Refill the engine and start it, allow to run for a few minutes watching for leaks. After you have run it for a few minutes if there are no leaks that you can detect, check the oil and if it appears black change it again. If the oil is relatively clean run it until it gets dirty or about 1000K miles. You may want to use an additive like STP Oil Treatment for the first time to lubricate everything. Change the oil and filter after another 1000K miles. This should remove the remainder of the burnt oil from the car and it should run OK. I would keep an eye on the engine as you may have damaged the bearings and they will require replacement. Hopefully, this will help you salvage the engine.

It would be nice to know how many miles are on the car. GTP - Dad's suggestions are great as usual but additionally I'd run a compression check on all cylinders just to be safe. Either way...good luck!

1000k? Thats a million miles!!! I have seen rears blow out catastrophically but it was on a rope seal 350 in a 70's Camaro. OOPS! I just dated myself! The low oil light usually comes on at 1 - 1-1/2 quarts down. If you were dry, dad is right. if you were one to 2 quarts low, probably OK. Was it your low light or low pressure light?

Sorry about that 1K miles is what I meant. 1000K is quite a distance even for synthetic oil!

It was the low oil light that came on, I have white diveways and my spot is still bright as new so i don't think there are any leaks, I like these jeans too much to crawl under unless i have to.

Unfortunately, the oil just didn't disappear from the engine, it had to go somewhere. I would retrace your trip to see if there are any signs of oil on the road. Also, put on your old jeans and look under the car to see if there are any traces of the oil on the underside of the car. This can give you an idea of where to start looking.
Since you cleaned the engine and refilled the crankcase, have you lost oil pressure/oil again? If not I would have to believe that the entire problem was related to the oil filter. I am assuming that you changed it before and after you flushed the engine. If the sealing ring was bad then you have corrected the problem. I would, however, keep an eye on the Mobil 1 you put in. It may get very dirty very fast due to the earlier problem. When oil turns black like you stated it means it was overheated and basically cooked. It clings to everything and will take a while to be totally removed from the engine. Keep us posted!

I'm gonna check for oil spray on the bottom of the chasis this weekend, it may just be the filter was leaking at high pressure. I wish i could check it sooner but finals are coming =/ wish me luck.
