Electric fan not working.

I've tried searching but couldn't find any info.
The electric fan on my 94 3.2L is not working. It will work if I apply power directly. I understand there is a relay somewhere but I can't find it. Chasing wires is problematic since they disappear into large wrapped bundles. Can anyone tell me where to look for the relay? It's not in the engine bay fuse/relay box and I can't find any other relays under the hood.

Have you checked the resistor block?

Resistor block? Is it that little square thing right next to the fan? I thought that was a noise suppresor.

Sorry to not have responded sooner. To answer your question, I'm not exactly sure where the resistor block is located but according to the fan schematic, electrically it is between the switch and the fan. It contains three resistors (which determine fan speed) and a fuse. Seeing as you've determined that the motor works (I saw your post on 4x4 wire (http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=716739&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=14&fpart=1)), I would try and find the resistor block.

I have the exact same problem with my 96 Rodeo. I have yet to remedy the problem for the same reasons that you have already stated. Any help here would be appreciated. I'll let you know if I find something.

I was just a little bit low on coolant. Added about a half gallon and everything is good.

Hmm, so you added coolant and the fan started working again? Perhaps there is a sensor in the radiator (which I could not find) and there must be enough coolant in order to reach it?
Mine was also a half gallon low, but the fan still doesn't seem to be working after topping it off. I'm guessing that maybe it is the sensor. Now I just have to find it and test it.
