02 cavalier wound start

50k miles on and had not been turned on for about 1 week. Did not have any problems prior to today. When you turn ignition on there is a loud tapping noise coming from the engine. That is all it does. Battery is good as radio, lights, etc work prefectly. Can anyone help please?!?!

get under your car and look at your starter. It will be were your engine and transmission meet. Is it loose or does it even turn. That tapping your hearing is probably the teeth of the starter on the teeth of the flywheel if it is a manual.
