Hood struts don't work

The hood on my '97 Intrepid doesn't stay up anymore. Is there anyway to tell if I have to replace both of the gas struts or just one? Thanks.

it's best to just go on and replace both the struts, they're availabe at your local auto part store for only $20 each. Just pop the out from the hood and the fender and your set to go.
