97 Yukon Fuel Pump Problem

I just replaced the fuel pump on my 97 Yukon. The job went reasonably well. I would say the biggest hassle is trying to wiggle the gas tank around enough to get it lowered. Upon reassembly I paid close attention to the pig tail that connects to the pump to make sure there was nothing wrong with it. The socket on the pigtail still looked great; no signs of failure so I plugged in the new pump and buttoned everything back up. After putting everything back together I filled it up and tried to start it with no luck. I wish I would have checked the fuel pump connection with a meter before I put the tank back on but I did not. The relay is good and all the fuses are good inside and outside of the truck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, you did change the fuel filter, yes?
Is the problem that you are getting juice to the pump and it does not run?
Please clarify. Take care, Eggert :bananasmi

Yes, I did change the fuel filter.
I don't know for sure if the pump is getting power or not. I can not hear it priming when I turn the ignition key on so I am guessing no power. I am assuming that I have to drop the tank again to test for voltage at the pigtail that plugs into the fuel pump? Thanks for the help.

Update:
The yukon is back running again. For those of you that will do a lot of research before trying this job here is a tip. Alawys make sure that the delarship that you had your Yukon towed to before they told you it would be $800.00 for a fuel pump does not take your ECM/B fuse out of the fuse box before you take the vhecile home and fix it yourself. In my haste I checked every fuse in both boxes with a meter several times but just didn't think about them taking the fuse. I should have caught it earlier. Maybe it was to make sure that the pump had no power?
Thanks to everyone who helped. Great forum!
