I just bought a 1988 s15 jimmy and the previous owner had to swap the low and high beam wires on the back of the headlights because the low beams didnt work and the high did and now after the swap the low work and the high dont, whats the problem? wiring? relay?

Did you swap them back or are you talking about after he did the swap? If its after he did the intial swap then the high beams wont work cause that wire isnt giving the headlight any juice hence the reason he swapped the wires.

oops, sorry. i see how that could be taken both ways. only the previous owner has swapped the wires. so they are currently set so that the switch for "brights" turns on low beam and the switch for low beams does nothing, i checked the switch and thats not the cause. i believe the cause to be a short in the wiring, i checked the connection between the wire on the inside and the wire just on the other side of the firewall and no good. i ran a temporary wire from one side of firewall to the other and it didnt work, so the problem is in the cab somewhere between the switch and the wire before it goes through the firewall, where does the wire go from the switch? relay? fusebox? please help
