92 Accord speedometer wake up late

LX, 185K.
My wife complained to me that the car's acceleration is hard. Not easy to get it to 70mph. When I tried it after she got home, there is no problem at all. Engine is sharp, it's easy to go over 80.

Later, I found out that the first 15 minutes of driving every morning, it's really hard to get up to the speed (70 mph), the engine roars loud at 55, just like my wife said. But it runs great later.

Then I realized that in the morning when the speedo says 55, I am actually moving at almost 80 (Yes, I was stopped by the police, what a hard way to learn this. And no, I didn't get a ticket by explaining what my speedo was telling me).

Ok, anyone out there ever experience this? What could be the problem? Speed sensor? Replace? Cleaning? Thanks.

I have not noticed that particular thing happening, but once when I was going to Chicago in February, as it got colder the farther north I went, there was suddenly a loud noise from under the hood. It was so loud, I actually thought the horn was freaking out or something. As I pulled into a toll booth, the noise stopped. When I pulled away, at about 45 mph it started again. When it did, I saw the needle jump completely over the top end, drop to zero, then start to read correctly. The noise continued until I stopped again. I put a new cable in the next day. The old grease was thick as glue in the cold.

I realize this is probably absolutely no use to you and your problem, but my uncle owns a speedo repair shop, I'll ask him this weekend if nobody comes up with your answer.

90+ do not have speedometer cables. Check the speed sensor located on the right side near the fire wall attached to the transmission. Search this forum for similar topics, This has been discussed many times.
