Anyone here ever experienced problems with using the Octane Booster from STP, or any octane booster for that matter?

I have a friend who says that it can cause shit to get loose in the fuel lines or in the tank and then can cause clogs or something :banghead: ...i'm not even sure of the specifics he was talking about...

I just never heard that before...anyone? anyone? :grinno:

Doubtful but possbile. Isn't that what the fuel filter is for? the prevent build ups? Besides it would take a while to build up enough gunk to do that.

never thought about the fuel filter and it's purpose :screwy:

I am not to worried about b/c if could damage an engine like that it wouldn't be on the market. would it??

I mean, it's just threw me for a loop...

Well i put that stuff in my car and it is now in the shop

30 mins after putting it in the car started to run weird.
went in a store and it came out and it just stalls.
Now i have to leave it sitting for 1 hour before it is driveable again.
If it is cold when i start it even if i let it get hot it will drive fin with no problems.
I think it did something to the Pump or Cat. Or that stuff forceing crap through the lines/injectors

Octane booster mixes with the fuel to increase the rating. I seriously doubt that the booster caused the problem you are describing unless you put in more than the recommended amount of booster in the tank. I have used STP octane booster before with no ill effects in my GTP which has more then 140K miles on the engine. It is possible however that if you mixed the booster to less than the recommended amount of fuel it could cause problems especially with the fuel pump.

I agree. I've used it before in my '97 GTP with no ill effects. However, it is imperative to follow STP instructions for proper dilution. One bottle per full tank. I recall Stp's Octane Booster is a two in one product. Octane boost plus combustion chamber cleaner.

If mixed properly it should not damage the CAT convertor or 02 sensors.
However, you never know.
