hey guys, i am looking to buy a camaro and i was hoping you could give me some advice on this car i am going to look at this saturday.
it is a 2002 Z28 with 33K miles, rims (kind of ugly if you ask me), new dec, etc and the guy wants $16,500. is that a good price? seems a little high to me. anything specific i should ask him camaro specific? the owner sounds 30+ so it's probably never been raced or anything above going 70mph on the freeway. :)
here is the car

I know plenty of F-Body guys that are over 40 years old and still race.
Sounds like an average price. Would be better if you could take him down a little.
Great car. LS1 powered. Low-mid 13's outta the box.

Not too many for the 2002's. GM had most of the little quirks worked out by then.
Piston slap is probably something you should listen for. When cold, listen to it run. Might hear a minor ticking that goes away once warm. Also, the LS1 tends to burn a little oil. Not a ton though. Maybe a quart every 3000 miles. This is normal. Mine doesn't do it, but most do I guess.

That site has most anything you would want to know about the motor. Specs, levels, etc....
M6 or A4??

that's actually a pretty damn good price, with such low miles... but as always, try to work him down abit just to save some money...

It is a little something called piston slap. GM says it is normal unless it doesn't go away, or is insanely loud. Something about the coating on the pistons.
This site is making fun of GM for it, but it has decent info if you can weed through the bullshit.

Mine doesn't have it. Check LS1.com, LS1Tech.com, LS2.com for more resources.

Thanks for the tips. I went and checked out the car and test drove it. The thing sure has some balls! Not quite as fast as the bike I am replacing - but it has air conditioning, roof, and a radio. :) Anyway, it is in mint condition well worth the 16,500 but he dropped to 16,250. It still has a few months left on warrenty and new tires. It is a 35th anniversary also if that makes a difference all the z28's seem to be anniversary editions.
I pick it up monday evening. :D
