Oil pump shaft gear

I'm currently building up a 2.5. I've got everything squared away except one problem, I can seem to get a hold of the gear the drives the oil pump shaft. The one from my old engine was shattered when it threw a rod. None of the parts houses have any clue what I'm talking about when I ask for the part. Does anybody know where I could purchase that gear? I would really appreciate any help you can offer. It's an 85 2.5 fiero.
Thanks,
GregM

you may have to go to a yard and buy the whole distributer, any 2.5 of the same year will work. or you can try napa they r ussually good for stuff like this.

Thanks for the reply, but I've already tried all the local parts houses, including napa and carquest. There is one out at the junkyard, I'm not sure if it's any good or not. The oil pump in the 85 2.5 runs off of a seperate shaft driven by the camshaft, and has no link with the distributor.
Thanks for the reply

then my best idea would be to go to a junk yard and buy a distributer for the part. sorry but that may be your only way to get just the gear.

Thanks for the help, I ended up going to the distributor, I would rather not put a junkyard part in my new engine. I appreciate the replys.

If you still are in need for a gear, I'm scrapping my 2.5L. I'll check it over and make sure it's not worn or damaged, and if it looks good you can have it for free. In fact, I'd give you the whole damn engine or any part of it. It used to run, but lost spark one day. Go figure... I'm dropping in a 6 anyway :)
