Does anybody know how to prevent the flywheel from moving without the specialized tool? I tries already a crow bar and such, but the bolts are torqued down to hard it just moves no matted what? I need to take the flywheel off to get it remachined, so any ideas would be great!!
Thanks,
John

easiest thing I could think about is an impact gun, since its more of a hit of 600ft lbs rather than a consistent 200 ft/lbs they break loose a lot easier. If the impact gun is out of your budget, try wedging a pry bar into the teeth and against something, have someone hold the pry bar, then go to town...
Good Luck!

Hey Randomtask,
Thanks for the reply, I tried the pry bar and wedgeing it and everything, it just doesnt work!! Wouldn't the impact gun just turn the flywheel also?
Thanks,
John

Nope. Impact wreches hit pulses of torque. Its the same reason why when they change your tires, they can get the lug nuts off with the wheels up in the air. It doesn't even turn the free-spinning wheels.

Sweet, I thought they would turn the fly wheel as well. I'll go out and buy a air compressor this weekend, what size compressor in gallons would run an impact to it's max power? Another thing, does anybody know of somewhere that remachines flywheels, and how much?
Thanks Again for thr replies,
John

Have you checked the flywheel dosn't have a hole through it, with a corrosponding point in the block that you can use to jam it with?
Some do, some don't.
