The main spotting differences between the R34 and the Z-Tune are the Nismo body kit (hood, skirts, front bumper), and most notable, the little pinches at the top, rearmost edge of the front quarter panel, ahead of the doors. There are also some extraneous coolers and motor bits, but unless Tamiya puts a motor in it, we'll never know. I wonder if the website miss labelled an Aoshima release as a Tamiya?

Frank, $20 says its gonne be the Z-Tune the nismo pre-release verion. One with the nismo decals. Did you know that there was only 20 of these made?!?! 20!!!!

Let's not forget the new version front bumper and rear fender flares.

The Z-tune is so bad-ass. I'm very excited about the Aoshima MCR and now this!

Wow! You mean Tamiya actually is going through all of that painstaking effort to add new decals and maybe even some new body accessories or wheels???

Makes all that money, time, and effort Aoshima and Fujimi are spending on developing brand new tooling of modern supercars, D1 competition machines, and vintage sports cars seem practically meaningless. :disappoin

That's what I thought. This very unusual for Tamiya, I'm not quite convinced yet.

On the other hand, have they finally released there is a market for this now???

Tamiya did do the V-Spec version of the R34 a year or so after the release of the original R34. I would not put it past them to do another new body parts sprue, decals and box art, as it would not be as expensive as a brand new tooling and would satisfy the modellers for now whilst they plan their next major brand new tooling.

I do hope that Tamiya will do more tuner parts, wheel sets, etc. Probably being highly optimistic, but I can always dream!

Good news none the less

Yet an other Subaru....

I might dream, but it would be nice if Tamiya made the R34 with an engine. If not, well Aoshima already have a nice version of it, or even better, SAS + normal tamiya kit.

But i'm sure they will rerelease the old R34 + a sprue for new bodykit.. (I think this sprue will be very popular in "replacement department" :D)

Anyway, Fujimi win this round for new announcement.

Fujimi has been ahead all year with the new releases. Anyway, I think tamiya would have to make a new mold. Or heavily modify the origional. They would have to make a new hood, or a seperate hood. Either way, it is much diff from the stock one. And they better do those awsome fenders!

i bet the cost for R34 Z-tune's cost wont be high because all they need to do is create new bodykits, hood, and decal. So i think the cost wont be too high

Nice......but i'd really like to see Tamiya do something totally different like some models from the AussieV8 Supercars
You can only build so many Skylines and WRX's before you grow abit tired of building them

Very true! :grinyes: I never thought I'd say this but the modelling world is a bit over-saturated with Skyline kits. I say this with 5 of them started in my closet right now :shakehead

Frank X.
The GTO is a version of the Holden Monaro (coupe), the Holden Commodore is the 4-door version of the car. (Known as Opel Omega in Europe, but with a 4 or 6 cylinder engine only or the Cadillac Catera in the US with the same 6-cyl engine than the Opel)

I have the Pontiac GTO, the Holden Monaro and the Holden Commodore as 1:18 diecast... I know, it's not the same...

in the UK its known as a vauxhall monaro, it has a 5.7 litre V8, not a 4 or 6 cylinder engine.

the commadore and the monaro are 2 diffrent cars the commadore has the 4 or 6 the monaro like the gto has the 5.7 v8
