Hi I'm just wondering.... since the fuel pump assembly with the basket and everything is such big $$$ has anyone re-built, or just carefully cleaned the basket and just replaced ONLY the pump module?
When mine failed I still have the basket assembly and was thinking about rebuilding it and putting it on a shelf...I guess in my mind if I have a "spare" I think it will never break again :banghead:
OR has anyone just takien the thing out and used an aftermarket electric pump fuel pump?
I didn't see anyone else offer up these ideas.... but I thught it was worth asking about

I've never heard of anyone replacing the whole basket before. I've replaced the in tank pump on my 92 Astro and my 89 Caprice. The only thing I replaced was the pumps and the filters/screen in the tank. Both times parts were well under $100.
