306 Stuttering When Cold Problem

Had this problem for 18 months now and no Garage can find the problem...
Car 306 1.4 XL (1994) 84,000 miles
Basically it stutters when the engine is cold. (The first few minutes of driving) after that it is fine.
I seems to do it every time you put your foot down for just a few seconds and then the engine seems to wake up and its fine again. If you take your foot off and then floor it again it happens ... It is not as bad if you drive conservatively but if you floor it , it will deffinately happen.
Garages have tried replacing a temp sensor with no joy, HT leads and something else I can't remember... any ideas???
It is a single point injection, with an ECU.
Thanks loads for any help.

To me it just sounds like the engine is trying to warm up, I think it is typical older Peugeot to me my Gran had a 1995 3O6 XN which had the same problem , the dealer fixed it, when you say Garages do you mean Peugeot service centers or Your local grease-monkey?????
I suggest you ask a mechanic from Peugeot to have a look, because as I have found they are the only ones who seem to be able to seem to know about Peugeots gadgetry
btw: Welcome to AF

Your right is was a local grease monkey and not a main Peugeot dealer although the garage I use did take it down to Peugeot to put it on the computer (he is mates with a guy down there) and they still didnt have a clue. I'll maybe book it in direct with Peugeot .....
Cheers for the advice.
